Human Made Tsuriami White Sweatshirt: What You Should Know

We’re Human Made. NIGO started in 2010 in Tokyo. If you know Ura-Harajuku  you know the name. Our idea hasn’t changed since day one — take old American workwear, military gear and sportswear from the 50s and 60s  and rebuild it in Japan. “The Future Is In The Past.” That’s the whole thing.

Most streetwear brands outsource production. We don’t. Yarn  weaving  sewing — all of it happens in Japan. That one choice shapes every piece we make.

Tsuriami White Sweatshirt — What It Is

Tsuriami is loopwheel knitting. Old machines. They run slow. The fabric traps air inside  so it’s soft but holds shape. Regular sweatshirts go stiff after a few washes. This doesn’t. It moves with you.

Not many factories still run loopwheel machines. Output is small. One machine might make a few meters of fabric a day. That’s where the cost comes from. Not the logo. The time.

White is the harder colorway to get right. Ours has a slight warm tone  not a bright blue-white. That matters because it sits better against skin and under jackets. The red heart logo reads clean on it. Crewneck cut. Shoulders slightly wide. Not oversized. Ribbing holds the cuffs and hem. The neckline keeps its round shape after repeated wear.

Weight runs about 10 to 12 ounces. Heavier than a basic sweatshirt. Not heavy enough to feel like a jacket. In Japan, that’s a three-season piece.

Wearing It

White is a base layer. Treat it that way. Human Made Jacket over it works. Denim too. Let the collar and hem show. Human Made Pants or Human Made Shorts — both fine. White goes with nearly everything  but it shows stains faster than gray or black.

Warmer day? Human Made t シャツ under it. Cold day? You could stack a Human Made Hoodie on top  but two thick fabrics get bulky. Better to run the white sweatshirt as a mid-layer under something structured.

One warning — white and dark indigo are not friends. Dark denim transfers. If you’re wearing Human Made Denim  go light or mid wash. And don’t carry a new leather bag against it.

Washing and Drying (Read This Part)

Loopwheel cotton. Three things it hates. Heat. Scrubbing. Frequent washing. White adds a fourth problem — stains show immediately.

Inside out before it goes in. Prints and embroidery crack when they rub. Flip it, save it. Wash white separately. Not with light gray, not with cream. White only.

Under 30°C. Mild detergent. Don’t overpour. Gentle cycle. Mesh bag if you’ve got one.

Dryer? Skip it. Heat shrinks cotton. Cuffs and hem first  then the whole thing drops a size. Shake it out after washing. Hang in shade or lay flat. Direct sun? No. UV yellows white faster than any other color.

Fold it. Don’t hang it. Loopwheel fabric has weight. Hang it long enough and the shoulders pull into two points.

Iron? Low heat. Reverse side. Never on the logo.

Stains — blot  don’t rub. Rubbing pushes it deeper into the loops. Cold water, dab of mild soap  cloth  gently. Then wash normally. For white  treat stains the same day. Overnight sets them in.

Japanese sizing. Smaller than the US or EU. Wear medium in American brands? Large here might fit right. Shoulders run a touch wide. The body stays comfortable.

Relaxed look — true to size. Fitted — go down one. Fabric relaxes a bit with wear. Don’t size up too much trying to compensate.

Will the Human Made Tsuriami White Sweatshirt shrink?
Pre-shrunk. Cold wash, no dryer. It won’t. Hot water or a dryer? It will. Every time.

Will the print crack?
Inside out, wash and dry. No scrubbing the print. Normal use is fine. Cracking comes from heat or a heavy spin.

Why is white harder to care for?
Stains show right away. The sun yellows it. Dark dyes transfer. White needs its own wash load and shade drying.

Tag inside the collar. Woven label. Clean stitching. Consistent font. Heart logo evenly stitched, not glued or crooked. Buy from Human Made Japan or authorized shops.

Does white fade or yellow?
Yellow, mainly from sun and heat. Dry in shade. Wash cold. Skip the dryer. That’s most of it.

Can I machine dry it carefully?
You can. You shouldn’t. Even low heat breaks cotton down over time.

Tsuriami vs regular sweatshirt fabric?
Tsuriami is a loopwheel. Slow machine. Tube of fabric, no side seams. Regular fabric is cut and sewn from flat sheets. The loopwheel stretches more, holds shape better.
