Human Made has always done things this way: we don’t produce seasonal fashion items, we make clothes that endure. The same applies to this Rugby Knit Sweater in orange. This isn’t a head-in-the-sand design. Just pick it up and put it on, and you’ll know why it belongs in your wardrobe!

Fabric and Details

The Knit

This one is made with a rugby knit construction, which means that it has actual weight and thickness. The orange is not a flashy, fluorescent hue, rather it is a more subdued color so it doesn’t stand out in fall and winter. Typically, rugby sweaters feature solid collars and cuffs, and this one is no exception. The collar will not collapse after some uses.

Fit and Measurements

It was officially scheduled to drop, at product number HM32CS001, on 17th October, 2026, at a price of ¥36,300. Size L: body length – 69.5cm, chest width – 58cm, shoulder width – 48cm, sleeve length – 62cm. The cut is not thin – there is space for layers. If you are going to wear a Human Made t-shirt under, your regular size will do. Want it looser? Go up one.

Human Made Signatures

There’s the brand’s heart motif on the left chest. Not too loud here — the orange is the visual anchor, and it’s best to keep the details to a minimum. Human Made new arrivals followers are familiar with the brand’s knack for colour. Orange pieces are not common so they stick with you.

How to Wear It

With Denim

Human Made denim is the most natural match. The contrast of orange sweater and dark denim blocks the clash. Either straight or slightly wide cuts will do.

With Shorts or Casual Pants

Fall and winter are not really “shorts” seasons, but if you’re located south of Kanto in early fall, Human Made shorts might serve as a transition. The more secure choice is khakis or work pants from the human made pants line – orange is the same color as khakis.

Layering on Top

Put on a Human Made jacket (stadium jacket or work coat) when it gets colder and allow the orange knit to show at the collar. Instant depth. Wearing caps: basic cap from the Human Made range in a basic colour. Your head will not have to play against the orange, it is already doing the job.

Layering Underneath

Underwear can be white or gray, but must be a Human made t シャツ. A small collar allows it not to appear flat. The Human Made hoodie can be worn under it in extremely cold weather, but if it’s too cold, the sweater will look bulky. Use your judgment.

Care and Maintenance

Washing

Hand wash is preferred. Machine washing will cause knitwear to distort, particularly when washed in a rugger knit with actual thickness. Water should be kept at less than 30°C; do not use bleach; use mild detergent. If you have to machine wash, please use a laundry bag and a wool/gentle cycle — but that is your choice.

Drying

Don’t wring it out. Squeeze out the water, then spread it out to dry in a well-ventilated area. Do not hang wet as the water will stretch the knit. No sunlight, orange will fade. No dryer. High shrinkage risk.

Storage

Fold it flat. Avoid hanging it on a hanger – it will be subject to long-term distortion of the shoulders. Use a moth repellent when storing it during the season. Knitwear attracts insects.

The official online store is the easiest way to access the release, as will be Human Made Fukuoka and the Tokyo store. Orange typically is not available in large amounts, and when it is available, don’t hold on to it for too long. Human Made Japan ships to domestic addresses for free on orders amounting to ¥16,500 or more.

Finally, the Human Hope collection (the j-hope collab line) has its own base but that’s a different line from this rugby sweater. They don’t need to be mixed. This orange piece is on its own for the color and the knit construction, it doesn’t require a collab to wear it.

Is this a plus or minus size sweater?

Slightly roomy. Size L is the width of chest is 58cm, width of shoulder is 48cm. For those who typically wear size M, M will be a good fit, but multiple layers of thick garments will be snug. To create a looser appearance, go L.

Does everyone find it difficult to wear orange?

No. This orange tones down, not bright. Black jeans, khaki, gray or white layers are all acceptable. Use this one big item, and neutralize the rest.

May I wash it in the washing machine?

Not recommended. Hand washing is safest. Machine washing is a real threat to pilling and deformation — rugby knit is not meant for rough handling.

Is it in need of ironing?

1. Ironing knitwear smoothes the texture. If you truly have wrinkles, steam away from the wrinkles; don’t press an iron on the wrinkles.
